General Manager appointed

The Board of Directors of the Highlands Summer Festival is pleased to announce the appointment of a General Manager for the theatre company. At its January meeting the board of directors hired Ken Loney as the new General Manager.

This is a new position within the company and one funded by the Ontario Trillium Foundation. The contract position is for a three year period.

“We are delighted with the selection,” President of the charitable, not for profit theatre company, Jack Brezina, said. “Highlands Summer Festival has grown to a size where it needed a permanent employee to help manage the company throughout the year.” In addition to the many responsibilities with the Festival operations, Loney will also be helping with the establishment of the company’s new youth program called Early Stages, which is being introduced this summer.

Loney was a member of the Highlands Summer Festival’s Board of Directors until his appointment as the General Manger. Brezina noted that his two years on the board, extensive involvement in the performing arts as a musician and his wide and varied business background makes him an ideal candidate to fill the General Manager’s position.

“I am looking forward to stepping into this new position,” Loney said. “The Highlands Summer Festival is such a vital part of the local performing arts scene. It  is at a crucial point in its growth and development and I am really pleased to be a part of that.”

Loney officially takes on the General Manager’s position on March 3.
